I
was born in 1971, got out of high school in 1989, and guess what?
I'm STILL in college. No, it wasn't that much fun ... I just needed
time to get my life on track!
After
going back to college in January 2000, I FINALLY have my Associates
and Bachelors degrees in hand, and am off to graduate school.
If you want to see my pictures from my CofC graduation, click
here.
Amazingly,
not only did I pass, but I excelled, being inducted into two honor
societies, and was named to Who's Who. Proof that adults who
dare to go back to school can succeed and even excel in the academic
environment.
I grew up in the great 80's ... so Miami Vice, checkerboard Van's
shoes, Rubix cubes, Ronald Reagan, heavy metal, and big hair all mean
things to me. They were all part of my life's experiences, and I can't
wait for the 80's to come back!
I grew up the oldest of four boys in a family with a cop for a father
and housewife for a mother. We were the poorest family in a
good neighborhood, living in a fixer-upper house in a neighborhood
cops couldn't usually afford to live, driving old cars, shopping with
coupons, etc., etc., so we could go to good schools and have half
a chance in life. While I've come a long way in my life, I take
pride in not having forgotten where I came from.
I have five wonderful daughters. Cecilia is 16 (and thinks she's a
lot older). Shelby and Jessica are 13, Catie is 11, and Bonnie (born
3 weeks before Hurricane Bonnie roared up the SC coast) turned seven
in August.
Professionally,
I am a member of the South Carolina chapter of PRSA (Public Relations
Society of America), am the Communication Chairman for the S.C. Utilities
Coordinating Committee, and am a registered Notary Public (if you
ever need anything notarized, let me know...).
As
of November 1, 2004, I was officially divorced. The long end
of a drawn-out and painful process in which there was plenty of blame
to go around. After nearly two years of living alone (the longest I've
done so since high school), hasn't been easy, and there've been a
few disappointments along the way, but somehow I've survived and kept
moving, looking for the light at the end of the tunnel - or maybe
just the oncoming train?!?
Another recent turn in my life has been spiritual in nature.
Having been raised Southern Baptist, I drifted away from religion
in my teenage years, and am
now Catholic as a member of Charleston's Melkite
Catholic Community. I was received into the Church via
Chrismation
(the Eastern Catholic equivalent to confirmation) on Sunday, December
19, 2004.
If
you're a convert like me, considering it, or just want to check out
a different take on Christianity, take a minute to check out these

In closing, come take a look at a couple of pics of my living room,
done in a sort of "modern punk" style ... talk about eclectic ...

... and a picture of the front yard during the holiday season ...
cheesy enough?

Thanks for dropping by to find out more about me ... now go see
the rest of my website!
