What's new and/or
important in my world?

Congratulations to
Lance Armstrong!
What an impressive photo from the
last day of the Tour de France!

My first academic conference presentation.
First time I submit a paper for consideration, and it's a winner for presentation!
Here's a link to the winning paper
and a link to the September conference's website.

Greetings and Salutations fellow web surfer:

I'm Earl Capps, am 34 years old, live near of Charleston, S.C., near Summerville, and have a good job, and am divorced with wonderful kids.

For a career, I handle Community and Media Relations, as well as IT and Project Management support for a road construction company.  I also do public relations consulting and troubleshoot computers for fun and spending money.

With my B.A. in Corporate Communication from the College of Charleston (Class of 2004 - ten years late!), my academic quest continues as a guest lecturer and an academic mentor at a couple of colleges, as well as by working on my Masters' degree, which I hope to get sometime in 2007.

If you're an adult struggling to juggle college, work and family, have faith that you WILL make it - I did.

When I'm not working, in school, studying, or keeping up with kids ... I sleep LOL. Seriously, I do have some interests - like my Sirius satellite radio (love the 80s, new wave, hard rock and heavy metal channels!), my Catholic faith, and some brainy, geeky academic stuff, like my field (communication studies), as well as history (esp. Byzantium, South Carolina, and WW2).

I offer this site as a little slice of who I am, where I've been, and where I'm headed.  Feel free to poke around the site while you're here - read my bio, look at pics of my kids, or read some academic papers. If something you see provokes some thoughts, inspires you, helps you, or just pisses you off, feel free to tell me about it. But if you don't like it, too bad - like the Coke machine, I give no refunds!

And if you visited this site because you didn't have anything better to do, then maybe it's time to get off the computer and check out the real world.

That's me in the middle and Bonnie on the right.
