Pastor's Bio
The Reverend Anthony Hodge was born in Savannah, Georgia and reared by two loving parents, Deziree and Bennett Hodge, Jr. in Hardeeville, South Carolina. While growing up in Hardeeville, Reverend Hodge attended the public schools from which he was graduated. He then went on to serve a four year stint in the United States Navy. After serving his four year tour in the United States Navy, Reverend Hodge enrolled at Chowan College (University) where he earned an Associate of Arts degree. He then went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of South Carolina in Columbia, South Carolina. After struggling with his call and finally surrenduring, Reverend Hodge matriculated at Emory University of Atlanta, Georgia where he received a Master of Divinity degree. He is married to the former Brenda Jean Boyd, the daughter of Annie and Julius Boyd, Sr. As far as pastoral work is concerned, prior to assuming the duties as pastor of St. James United Methodist Church, he served one pastoral appointment in North Georgia's Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church as well as three other pastoral appointments in South Carolina's Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church. Reverend Hodge is actively involved as a clergy member of South Carolina's Annual Conference. He presently serves as Registrar for the Conference Board of Ordained Ministry. He is also the Registrar for the Charleston District Committee on Ordained Ministry and on the Board of Directors for Epworth Children's Home in Columbia, South Carolina. Lastly, he is a commissioned Chaplain Corp officer serving in the United States Navy. (LCDR).
